Print News (Writing, Photography, Layout)

I was sports editor for the Osseo Maple Grove Press, operated by Adams Publishing Group, from September 2022 to April 2023. I was then made sports editor of the Sun Post newspaper, also operated by APG. At both positions, I have received positive feedback for my writing, photography, layout work, and pursuit of interesting stories.

I’ve had the chance to cover high school sports teams of every sort. For example, on many occasions I got to write about and photograph the Maple Grove 2022 varsity football team that took home the Class 6A state title last year at US Bank Stadium. I also look for stories that are under-covered, including the stories of high-level athletes from my area like Leo Conneh and Ismaila Jome or the newly-formed Hmong national team.

The Sun Post and OMG Press are both weekly newspapers that use Adobe software for both writing documents and layout. I use a Canon Rebel T7 for photography.

FutVe English, Red Wine & Arepas Essay

In 2019, Jordan Florit published the book Red Wine and Arepas, a closeup look at the history and modern state of Venezuelan soccer. I was featured in the book with a multi-page essay I wrote.

Florit and I later created FutVe English, a digital news source for Venezuelan soccer which is now three years strong with close to 5,000 followers on Twitter. We regularly engage with professionals in the industry, have been referenced as a source by professional clubs, and have interviewed professional athletes like José “Brujo” Martínez and Andres Ferro.

We also have a podcast which has received accolades for its unique coverage of the game in Venezuela.

Staff Writer for Duluth FC

Starting at the end of 2017, I have spent several years on staff for pre-professional football club Duluth FC, which plays in the National Premier Soccer League.

Since that time, I have worked for the club as a staff writer, writing pre and post game material for the club’s and league’s websites, along with helping other news platforms cover the league. I have also written player profiles, press releases, and have helped as part of the team’s travel crew in 2018 and 2019.
